Dutch poultry processor Plusfood has said it is to close its production unit in Uden, southeast Netherlands.

Plusfood said the closure was not related to the outbreak of avian flu that hit the Netherlands this year. Instead, the company said the closure was due to disappointing sales in the Dutch food sector, reported the Dutch News Digest.

Production will be transferred to Plusfood’s units in Oosterwolde, northern Netherlands, Wrexham in the UK and Constanta in Romania.

Plusfood also said it would increase production at its Constanta unit so that it accounts for 25% of total Plusfood production, compared to the current 15%.
