Danish cheese firm Mammen Mejerierne has taken a majority stake in family-owned JB Jacobsen Seden.
JB Jacobsen Seden (JBJ-OST) was founded in 1949 and supplies sliced Danish cheeses to the retail and foodservice channels from its facility in the southern city of Odense. Family owners Søren and Finn Jacobsen will remain with the company, along with its 30 employees. The size of the stake and purchase price have not been disclosed.

Lars Staunsbæk, the CEO of Mammen Mejerierne, who runs the business with his son Peter Staunsbæk, said in a statement: “JBJ-OST is a well-run family-owned company, which is known in the industry for being able to offer an extremely wide range of high-quality sliced cheese products. We are really proud to be able to continue and develop the company that Søren and Finn have built up over many years.”
Based in the Jutland town of Mammen, Mammen Mejerierne generates an annual turnover of DKK1.1bn (US$170.8m). It also supplies Danish retail and out-of-home customers. The company has two other production facilities in Onsild and Drosbo, with a total of 250 employees. It also exports to more than 60 countries
Søren Jacobsen, the CEO of JBJ-OST, said: “There will not be many changes for our customers. The company will remain in the current premises with existing employees and hopefully more in time. We will still service all our customers as usual and at the same time look at how we can develop the company together with Mammen Mejerierne.”
