Dutch food group Wessanen has announced that it has appointed Alec C. Covington as president and chief executive officer of its North American subsidiary Tree of Life.

Covington, who has also been appointed executive board member responsible for all North American activities, was formerly CEO of Americold Logistics and has previously held the position of executive vice president of Supervalu.
Covington will succeed Rick Thorne, who, after more than 20 years at Tree of Life and 7 years as a member of Wessanen’s executive board, has decided to retire.
