Mexico has said it has partially lifted its ban on imports of US poultry that was put in place after an outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of bird flu in the US state of Texas.

Although a ban remains in place on all poultry from states where bird flu has been detected, Mexico is now allowing imports of mechanically deboned chicken and turkey parts and deboned turkey thigh meat, according to the Mexican agriculture department, reported the Associated Press.
In late February, Mexico announced it was extending its poultry ban to include imports of all live birds, eggs and poultry products from across the US, with the exception of some cooked products.
Recent outbreaks of bird flu in the US have led to restrictions on the country’s poultry exports. South Korea has banned imports of all US poultry, while the EU has banned imports of live chicks and eggs from the US.
