Jobs linked to the concept of the ‘future of work’ took the longest to fill across tech roles in the food industry in the first quarter, data shows.

During the opening three months of the year, adverts for the positions were online for an average of 20 days before being taken offline, according to Just Food’s analysis of millions of online job ads.

That meant they took eight days longer to fill than an average job at the same companies.

However, the figure for the first quarter was a decrease compared to the equivalent figure a year earlier, suggesting the required skillset for these roles has become easier to find in the past year.

The ‘future of work’ is one of the topics that GlobalData, our parent company and the source of the data for this article, has identified as being a disruptive force facing businesses in the coming years. Companies that excel and invest in these areas now are thought to be better prepared for the future business landscape and better equipped to survive unforeseen challenges.

Examples of the types of jobs on offer – and which GlobalData classifies as ‘future of work’ roles – included a business systems analyst for Nestlé in Mexico; a data engineer for Unilever in Turkey; and a data architecture manager for PepsiCo in the US.
