Canadian food ingredients and dietary supplements firm Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC) has announced that there was a fire at its production facility in Arcadia, Wisconsin late last week.
All nine employees were safely evacuated and two were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released, the company said.
Ross McCurdy, chief operating officer of ONC, said the company’s customers would not experience any interruption in supply or service as Ocean Nutrition’s Canadian production facility has adequate capacity to assume Arcadia’s production requirements while repairs are being completed.
Ocean Nutrition Canada is one of the world’s largest producers of powdered Omega-3, a healthy food ingredient derived from fish oil.
McCurdy said that the Arcadia facility is an integral part of the company’s global business plan. “Ocean Nutrition will conduct a thorough review of the event with a view to getting the facility fully operational as soon possible,” he added.
