US supermarket chain Food Lion, a subsidiary of Belgian retailer Delhaize, has said it has remodelled 63 stores in Maryland and Delaware and has launched a new promotional campaign called “Food Lion’s Fresh Makeover Celebration”.

“This is an exciting time for Food Lion and our customers, as we celebrate a fresh, new look, a greater selection of products, a new dedication to service and a renewed focus on delivering the freshest and best foods every day,” said Gaelo de la Fuente, Food Lion regional vice president of retail operations.


Much of the work has focused on the stores’ fresh departments – produce, meats and deli/bakery. Fresh departments have more items and a new design and layout, with new lighting and product fixtures. More than 40 stores have added a new section called “Nature’s Place”, devoted entirely to natural and organic products.


Other store and product enhancements include: more international products, more specialty product lines, redesigned grocery aisles, and new customer service counters and checkout lanes.
