Bankrupt US regional supermarket operator Eagle Food Centers has announced that its agreed the sale of 19 Illinois stores to seven grocery retailers.

The sale, which was approved by a US bankruptcy court, follows the recent sale of four Eagle Food stores to Hy-Vee and J.B. Sullivan, reported the Associated Press.
US grocer Albertsons is to buy five of the 19 stores, while rival Kroger is to acquire six Eagle Food stores. Butera Finer Foods is buying three stores, SVT is to buy two stores, and J.B. Sullivan, Supermercado El Guero De Aurora and Harold E Wisted are to buy one store each.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed. All sales are expected to be completed by the end of September.
