The company also said that Sarah Miller, vice president business process and retail services, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer, both reporting to CEO Ron Marshall.

Cross, a 35-year veteran of the grocery industry, was recruited to Nash Finch in September 1998 by then newly-arrived CEO Marshall to direct the company-wide business improvements project, eventually encompassing all core business initiatives, including merchandising, retail, distribution, and technology. He began his career with Safeway where he served for 23 years in a variety of corporate and division positions. Immediately prior to joining Nash Finch he was with IBM Global Services, where he spent three years leading a large outsourcing organisation implementing new business processes and applications at a major supermarket company.

Miller joined Nash Finch in 1999 as director of technical services. Prior to joining Nash Finch, she spent eight years in systems software engineering and project management with IBM and IBM Global Services.
