It showed that Vitamin D curbs the progression of breast cancer by stopping cancer cells from dividing and also encouraged the death of these cells. Imperial College London researchers measured the levels of vitamin D in blood serum of 279 women with invasive breast cancer.


The results showed on average women with early stage disease had significantly higher levels of vitamin D (15-to-184 mmol/litre) than women whose breast cancer had become advanced (16-to-146 mmol/litre).
