Chemical distributor Univar NV has confirmed its acquisition of the distribution company Mapol, based in Warsaw. The move is designed to expand Univar’s food ingredient distribution business under the Fiske brand.

Mapol has been active for more than 10 years in Poland, serving the fruit and vegetables, brewing, food and detergent markets, and is an established leader in the distribution of enzymes, Univar said.


Univar already has an established distribution operation in industrial consumables, personal care products, chemicals and polymers through its Univar Poland business, also headquartered in Warsaw.


This operation was established via acquisition in 1999 and has provided Univar with the strategic basis to realise the growth potential the Eastern European markets offer.


Fiske is the dedicated natural and synthetic ingredients division for the food and beverage industries of Univar NV. It has state-of-the-art ingredient warehousing and product handling facilities throughout Europe and offers a full range of services to supplement customers’ own resources, carrying out development work and specific projects.
