Wal-Mart’s UK supermarket chain Asda is not planning to renew its membership of the British Retail Consortium, the UK retailers’ trade body, the BRC said.
“We were informed last week that Asda were not planning to renew their membership of the British Retail Consortium,” a BRC spokeswoman said in an email to just-food.
“We are seeking a meeting with (Asda CEO) Andy Bond to understand the reason behind this decision,” the BRC said. “We would obviously be very disappointed if they do decide not to renew but would always welcome them back in the future.”
