Carrefour’s Spanish unit Centros Comerciales Carrefour SA (Carrefour Espana) has purchased two hypermarkets in the Canary Islands from DinoSol Supermercados, the number seven food retailer in Spain by revenue, for an undisclosed sum.

Carrefour intends to retain current employees, the companies said.

The sale fits DinoSol’s plan to focus its chain and sell non-core assets.

DinoSol operates 198 supermarkets and hypermarkets under the Hiperdino, Dino, Netto and Cash Diplo banners. Carrefour Espana already operates four hypermarkets on the Canaries.

The deal remains subject to approval from the Spanish competition authorities.
