Dutch retailer Royal Ahold has said that the appeal lodged against a US$1.1bn settlement between the company and shareholders has been dropped.
The securities class action and settlement resulted from the 2003 accounting scandal, when the company overstated its profits by EUR1bn (US$1.3bn).

“The final order and judgment approving the settlement are no longer subject to appeal,” Ahold said.
