Yelland, who is vice-president at the Weber Shandwick public relations group had been working at Wal-Mart’s Asda for the past year, helping director of external and legal affairs John Longworth to develop the company’s government relationships. He has quit that job to work for Tesco, the paper said.
Yelland has been hired by Lucy Neville-Rolfe, Tesco company secretary and director of corporate affairs advise on internal and external communications.
“It is not a reaction to any sort of backlash or that we are feeling the heat on our size,” Tesco said. “We already have some external advice and this just adds to it.”
