They are opposing Brussels’ safeguard measures, which include a minimum salmon import price and a new tariff quota to protect Scottish and Irish producers.
In formal talks at Geneva, Chile said Brussels’ explanations of its actions “would not necessarily wholly satisfy (its) concerns”. Confirming Norway would also launch WTO proceedings, Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik said he considered the EU’s action “unfounded” within world trade law.
The measures also affect salmon exports from Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
