Austin, Texas-based natural and organic foods supermarket chain Whole Foods Market today [Wednesday] opened its first location outside the US, in Toronto, Canada.


Walter Robb, executive VP, operations, said: “Today not only marks the opening of our 132nd store in 22 years but also our first international location.


“Toronto is a very sophisticated, ethnically diverse market. We are very excited to expand the Whole Foods Market brand outside of the US.”


Whole Foods Market has seen strong stock price performance recently and plans to announce its Q2 2002 results on 8 May 2002.
