“The acquisition will create new growth opportunities for Campina’s own butter division, Campina Buttergold, in both consumer and industrial markets,” Campina said in a statement on the move. Aveve Zuivel will be integrated into the Campina Buttergold division.

Aveve Zuivel, which is based in Klerken in Belgium, produces and markets butter oil and butter oil products for the European market. Its main markets are Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy and Spain and annual turnover is around 100 million euros (US$130 million)

“With the acquisition of Aveve Zuivel, we will add specific know-how to the expertise of Campina Buttergold,” said Justinus Sanders, CEO of Campina BV. “This makes the acquisition an extremely useful growth injection for our butter division.”
