Several companies have been linked in the Irish media to C&C’s anticipated sale of the iconic potato crisp brand Tayto. However, C&C told just-food, negotiations are still in their early days and it is too early to know who will come out on top.

C&C spokesman Paddy Hughes told just-food that speculation has been intense since C&C confirmed that it was considering selling Tayto.

“All C&C have done so far is to confirm that a process has been initiated,” Hughes remarked. “It is really far to early to say whether it will result in an actual sale,” he said, adding that IDI Corporate Finance has been appointed to look at any possible transaction.

“There has been an interest in Tayto,” Hughes confirmed, suggesting that C&C were actually approached by another company in April.

Irish media reports have linked Jacob Fruitfield, Largo Foods and Tayto Northern Ireland to the sale. When contacted by just-food, none of these companies were prepared to confirm their interest in the Tayto brand.
