Canadian egg producer Burnbrae Farms has started construction on a new egg grading facility in Strathroy, Ontario.
The 150,000 square feet site, located in the Molnar Industrial Park, is expected to be operational by late 2026.
It will house advanced grading technologies, including automated case packing, palletising and depalletising systems, and a fully integrated automated storage and retrieval system, Burnbrae Farms said in a statement.
Commenting on the news, Trevor Chang, vice president of operations at Burnbrae Farms, said: “Investing in cutting-edge technologies and sustainable building practices helps us meet the growing demand for specialty eggs, while advancing our leadership in Canadian egg production, grading, and processing.
“This facility will ensure we continue to serve Canadian families with high-quality eggs for generations to come.”
Michael + Clark Construction, a London, Ontario-based contractor, has been appointed to oversee the construction.
