
Three Dutch bakers have established a joint venture to supply bread to local supermarket chain Jumbo.
The joint venture between Bakkerij Goedhart, Bakkerij Visser and Bakkerij Bacu from will deliver bread to over 700 Jumbo stores across the Netherlands from January.

The partnership is part of Jumbo’s plans to “simplify” its fresh bread supply chain and secure long-term agreements to enhance customer service, according to a statement.
The joint venture has also partnered with Bakker Wiltink as an additional supplier.
A Jumbo spokesperson said: “We are excited about this new joint venture and look forward to a successful collaboration.
“This will allow us to serve our customers even better in the future, in terms of the taste, quality, availability, and sustainability of our fresh bread.”

By GlobalDataThis development follows Jumbo’s decision in June to end its 20-year contract with bread supplier Bake Five, a move set to take effect next year.
The move was part of Jumbo’s efforts to reduce purchasing costs amid rising inflation impacting margins.
The shift puts 700 jobs at Bake Five at risk.
At the time, a spokesperson for Jumbo said: “Following discussions with our partners in the fresh bread supply chain, we have decided to expand and deepen our collaboration with one of them, Bakker Goedhart. This enhanced partnership will take effect as of mid-2026.”
