A company spokesperson told just-food that although it was sad to see Golden Wonder go into administration, it was a good opportunity for Tayto and other companies.

Tayto recently landed a GBP£10m deal with Tesco to produce the supermarket’s own-brand crisps. Prior to this, the company invested GBP£7m in up-grading its production capability.

The company spokesperson confirmed that there remained a surplus production capability, which could potentially be used to manufacture Golden Wonder brands. However, Tayto emphasised that nothing has yet been finalised.
