The Russian subsidiary of Finnish industrial conglomerate Raisio, Raisio Nutrition Ltd., has acquired a dairy in Istra, Russia.

The name of the dairy was not reported, and the sum paid was not disclosed. However, it is reported that Raisio Nutrition will transfer some of its current margarine production facilities to Russia to be integrated into the Russian plant.
Raisio, which makes the popular function spread Benecol, said that an overall investment of €2m (US$2.2m) would give significant leverage to the company’s ability to compete in the Russian dairy sector.
