Rumours have been flying that Masterfoods intended to relaunch its Galaxy Promises range, with smaller sized bars and new packaging, in a move designed to combat an inadequate consumer response to the brand.

It has been suggested that sales of the premium range have not been as strong as Masterfoods would have hoped because the packaging failed to attract consumers and placed the product in the ‘discount’ market.

While Masterfoods admits a planned investment of GBP4m (US$7m) to promote Galaxy Promises this year, Louise Stone, Masterfoods spokesperson, told just-food that this was not the result of disappointing sales.

“We can confirm that there is no ‘major overhaul’ planned for the Galaxy Promises brand,” she said. “Masterfoods is pleased with the success of this brand and is supporting it with a GBP4m investment package this year.”
