It has proposed this rule should be written into a package of reforms tabled by the European Commission covering food and animal feed, safety, labelling and inspections.


Other amendments proposed for agreement by the full parliament include the ordering of unannounced inspections to check compliance with maximum limits of certain chemical residues and extra checks on organic products to ensure compliance with special rules for these products. All food imports should be inspected and, if there is an imminent danger, destroyed, proposed the MEPs.
