The managing director of Metro Cash & Carry’s business in Germany has moved to lead a newly-created audit and compliance division at the company’s international office.

Rainer Grünewald, who has spent 33 years at the company, will head up the new unit at Metro Cash & Carry International.

“The clear definition of and strict compliance to corporate principles, rules and standards of conduct for international companies like Metro Cash & Carry and its staff is of immense importance,” said CEO Thomas Huebner.

Grünewald’s replacement in charge of the company’s German operations is Harald Fraszczak.

Fraszczak, 42, joined Metro Cash & Carry in 1992.
