US supermarket retailer Kroger has announced that Susan Kropf, a former president and chief operating officer of Avon Products, has been elected to its board of directors.

Kroger said Kropf brings extensive experience in home, health and beauty care to Kroger, having spent 35 years with Avon Products.


In addition to holding the positions of president and chief operating officer from 2001 until her retirement earlier this year, Kropf  formerly served as president of Avon US and president of new and emerging markets for the company.


Kropf also sits on the boards of Coach, Inc., MeadWestvaco Corp., Sherwin Williams Co. and the Wallace Foundation.


Kropf has been elected to serve until Kroger’s annual meeting of shareholders in June 2008, at which time she will stand for election by the shareholders. Her election brings the total number of members on the board to 17.
