Foodland’s managing director, Trevor Coates, said supermarket retailers’ expansion into non-grocery sectors should be investigated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), reported the Australian Associated Press.

“We’re not as significant as our two major competitors and as they continue expand into other sectors we think that is going to put a lot of pressure on the industry and we think it’s about time the ACCC consider the processes,” Coates was quoted as saying.

This is not the first time Coates has expressed concerns about competition issues regarding Foodland’s competitors. In September, Coates called on the ACCC to investigate some grocery retailers’ liquor and fuel ventures.
