The consumer goods giant, maker of brands including Ben & Jerry’s, has appointed John LeBoutillier as chairman of the business.

Last month, Unilever announced plans to close two sites in North America amid a shake-up of its ice cream business on the continent.

Some 275 jobs at Unilever’s offices in Green Bay and Oakville will go but the company’s Ben & Jerry’s arm will continue to be run out of Vermont.

LeBoutillier, who has spent 15 years at Kraft, will join Unilever next month, working from the company’s US headquarters in New Jersey.
