French dairy group Lactalis has acquired French fruit compote producer, Delis.

The family firm, which employs 25 staff and has a production site in central France, made a small loss from a 2006 turnover totalling EUR10.7m.
Delis’ activities will complement those of Lactalis’ own subsidiary, Vergers de Châteaubourg, which makes apple compote products.
Separately, Lactalis has decided to appeal to France’s Supreme Court over its failed bid for Massif Central cheesmaker, Toury.
In May, Lactalis lost out in the race for Toury to four companies led by local cheesemaker Dischamp. The decision triggered an appeal from senior managers of the nine companies that made up the Toury group, a move that was supported by Lactalis.
