B&G, the New Jersey-based cereals-to-salad dressings business, posted a 40.7 leap in net income to US$4.8m for the three months to the end of September.

Net sales rose almost 15% to $117m with the bulk of the increase coming from The Cream of Wheat, a cereals business that B&G bought in February.

Chief executive David Wenner said: “Cream of Wheat continues to perform well and has contributed meaningfully to our top and bottom line growth.

“Our base business has been stable in the face of a challenging cost environment and we continue to evaluate pricing actions to counter foreseeable cost increases as we review our product lines for the balance of 2007 and 2008.”
