US food group General Mills is to close its manufacturing unit in Poplar, Wisconsin, with production being transferred to other facilities.

The company said the closure, which will result in the loss of 113 jobs, stems from a need to expand capacity while also reducing costs.
The Poplar plant, which is primarily engaged in the production of taco shells, is expected to close by August 2008.
