The unitholders of E. D. Smith Income Fund have approved the sale of the jam-to-ketchup company to US pickles specialist TreeHouse Foods.

At a special meeting held in Toronto yesterday (11 October), the fund’s unitholders voted in favour of a special resolution authorising the sale
The deal was first announced in June, and is expected to be formally sealed next week.
The fund anticipates that unitholders will receive an aggregate payment of C$9.055 (US$9.25) per unit, which will include $0.025 representing the pro rata portion of the normal monthly distribution of the fund for October, 2007.
