French food sector holding company Financière Turenne Lafayette is reportedly poised to acquire Delpeyrat-owned dry sausage brand Montagne Noire.
 
One of France’s leading foie gras producers, Delpeyrat, acquired Montagne Noire from Spain’s Campofrio in 2007. The business’ product range includes sausage, slicing sausage, bacon, chorizo, pancetta and coppa, largely marketed in supermarket outlets.
 
The reports quoted Delpeyrat president Thierry Blandinières, who said the range was never viewed as strategic and that the company was open to offers for Montagne Noire.
 
However, a Delpeyrat spokesperson told just-food the company would not comment on the sale before an official statement was published.

Financière Turenne Lafayette, a EUR600m (US$883.7m) business with brands including William Saurin and Paul Predault, declined to be interviewed.  
 
The sale, which could be completed by the end of the year, also includes two plants in south-west France but Delpeyrat could keep Montagne Noire’s Bayonne ham-making factory.
