The UK’s largest supermarket group usually sends out Clubcard statements four times a year – in February, May, August and November.

However, the company said that it has decided to send out about half of February’s statement early.

Moreover, Tesco said that its ‘double points’ scheme means that its February loyalty card payment level will be similar to last year’s.

“This seasonal surprise is to help customers at a time when we know they will appreciate it most. We know that this year mums are taking tight control of family budgets and they are looking for treats, not extravagance,” Tesco’s commercial director Richard Brasher said.
