Unilever has revealed details of job cuts in the UK as part the company’s worldwide restructuring.

The consumer goods giant, owner of brands including Knorr soup and Magnum ice cream, will cut over 300 jobs at three sites across the UK.
Unilever said that jobs would go at its Burton-on-Trent site, which manufactures Bovril and Marmite. Further posts will be axed at detergents factories at Port Sunlight on the Wirral and at Warrington.
Unilever said the review would also see jobs created at sites in Norwich and Trafford Park as it invests GBP30m (US$60.6m) in its UK business.
Unilever UK chairman Dave Lewis said the changes mark a “significant step forward in increasing the efficiency and responsiveness of our manufacturing in the UK”.

Unilever said it would look to “streamline or close down” up to 60 factories, with some 40% of the job cuts are likely to be in production.
