Quist, 54, has been a key figure in the development of Axfood’s Willys chain. Axfood runs over 220 stores in Sweden under the Hemköp, Willys and Willys hemma banners.

“I have worked by entire adult life in food retailing, and business development is a natural part of my professional aspiration,” said Quist.

“It is also important for a group like Axfood to have someone outside of the line operations who can focus full-time on product-line strategy, pricing and concept changes.”

Axfood president and CEO Anders Strålman added: “With the current rapid pace of development in the retail food industry, we need someone with Anders Quist’s experience, know-how and contact network in our strategic work.”
