The 100-strong workforce at Campbell Soup’s plant in Shepparton, north-east Victoria, voted earlier today [Thursday] to strike indefinitely over the company’s failure to consult them on a policy for injured workers.

“We believe [Campbell] haven’t honoured our current enterprise agreement,” Ray Campbell, from the Manufacturing Workers Union, explained to ABC News: “We believe they’ve breached it and we believe the company is the one that has taken the industrial action early.


“We’re not happy and the workers are not happy with the company’s whole approach on rehabilitation problems.”


Last week, the Industrial Relations Commission ordered Campbell employees not to strike over the issue for another two months but Ray Campbell warned that it would take a lot of effort on the company’s part to get its staff back to work.
