Canada is set to impose anti-dumping duties on garlic imports from China and Vietnam, after a tribunal ruled that the Asian imports are hurting the Canadian producers. In a recent decision, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal said that it had sufficient evidence to prove the dumping of garlic from Vietnam and China has caused harm to Canadian garlic growers.

The next stage of the case will be the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties on Chinese and Vietnamese imports from this month (January).


A further hearing will be held by the trade tribunal in April, regarding the injury being caused to the Canadian growers, which could lead to definitive duties being imposed.
