French vegetable specialist Bonduelle has bought out Canadian frozen and canned vegetable processor Aliments Carrière for an undisclosed sum.
Last June, Bonduelle took a 23% share of the company, promising earlier this year to come back for more.
Carrière employs 985 staff at seven sites in Quebec and Ontario, who processed 140,000 tonnes of frozen foodstuffs and 170,000 tonnes of canned product last season.
In April, Carrière announced full-year sales of EUR232m (US$320m), of which 60% came from frozen vegetables and 40% from canned products.
Chief executive Christophe Bonduelle has described the Carrière deal as “an essential stage in the globalisation of the group”.
