The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) alleges that there has been “serious, wilful, repeat and other-than-serious violations” of health and safety standards at a Tyson plant in Missouri.
The OSHA has levelled some 59 violations of standards at the site in the town of Noel, ranging from obstructed exits to flash burn from welding rays.
“This employer was well aware of federal standards to protect employees from the hazards found during inspection, yet did not comply with them,” said Charles E. Adkins, OSHA’s regional administrator in Kansas City.
Officials at Tyson Foods could not be reached for immediate comment.
