National Foods is playing down reports that it is considering another acquisition in the dairy sector after the company was forced to pull the plug on the A$250m acquisition of Bonlac‘s consumer products division.
Last week, the dairy processor withdrew its planned acquisition to take over Bonlac Foods after its joint proposal with Murray Goulburn floundered when the co-operative pulled out of the deal.
“We do have other growth options and now that the Bonlac opportunity is not proceeding we will be examining those other options in more detail,” a National Foods spokesman said.
The dairy company, which holds a A$300m-plus war chest, has been under market pressure to make acquisitions.
