The branding will replace and extend the co-operative’s existing M-7 meat scheme and IP-Suisse (Integrated Production) during next year.

The IP-Suisse scheme, which has already been in operation for ten years, is a partnership with 18,000 Swiss farmers and food producers. It is used to flag up goods made exclusively from Swiss-grown ingredients, or Swiss fresh produce.

The current M-7 meat quality standard, based on outdoor farms, will be extended from pigs, lamb and beef cattle to include secondary beef and poultry meat production. The current veal scheme will not change.

Both the M-7 and IP-Suisse schemes will undergo a routine review of operational standards in the coming months. The retailer is cutting the undergrowth in its quality label jungle, with a view to streamlining existing labels to seven during the coming year.
