Tokyo-based everyD.com Inc will link up on a 50-50 venture with Japan’s largest restaurant operator with an initial capital injection of ¥100m (US$748,000).
The joint company will offer online services through brochures at the 3,800 McDonald’s restaurants in the country, as well as via registered members’ mobile telephones.
Citing the difficulties facing the domestic beef industry since the discovery of BSE in the national herd last September, McDonald’s Japan recently cut the forecast for its parent operating profit by 30% to ¥18.8bn for 2001.
