Dublin, Ireland-based fresh fruit producer and distributor Keelings has regained the 25% stake it has previously sold to its far larger counterpart Chiquita Brands International.

At least nine different members of the Keeling family have stakes in Keelings, whose ultimate holding company is Borling Investments, reported the Irish Independent.

As part of the same deal, Chiquita has acquired Keelings’ banana ripening and distribution business in the UK, with facilities in Dewsbury and Glasgow.

Keelings is a major supplier of bananas to supermarkets in Ireland and Britain. Its main customers are Dunnes Stores and Tesco.
