The US group, which produces brands including Cheerios and Lucky Charms, said the price hike is line with similar action from other cereal manufacturers in recent months.


A General Mills spokesman told just-food today (6 June) that the higher cost of grain and energy had been a factor in the decision to raise prices.


He said the company would also reduce the packaging sizes of some of its products.


The spokesman said that General Mills’ rivals have downsized their packaging in recent years, moves that have made the company’s products more expensive than those owned by their competitors.
