Unilever has confirmed that it is closing its TZ Nelahozeves factory in the Czech Republic, with the loss of 683 jobs.
The closure will be a phased process, with full closure anticipated in the second quarter of next year.
The move will simplify Unilever’s operations, reduce costs and speed the roll-out of innovations, the company said.
A full consultation with all social partners will start immediately on local and regional level.
“As a socially responsible company, we are fully committed to treating our employees with the utmost respect and integrity and we will provide all necessary support to those affected,”
Antonin Jirousek, country manager for Unilever in the Czech Republic, said.
The current proposal does not impact Unilever’s marketing and sales operations.
Unilever remains committed to its business in the Czech Republic and will continue to serve its Czech consumers and customers in the “best possible” way, the company said.
