UK cake maker Finsbury Food Group has developed ‘mini’ versions of Nestlé’s Toffee Crisp and Munchies for the UK market.
The ‘mini bites’ will be available in Tesco and Morrisons stores with a possibility of wider distribution over the coming months through retail, foodservice and wholesale channels, the company said today (11 September).
Finsbury Food Group said the launch is being made in a bid to extend its share of the snacking cake category, which accounts for 45% of the GBP1bn (US$1.67bn) cake industry.
The mini bites have an RRP of GBP1.99 per tub of 15 mini bites. The Toffee Crisp Mini Bites contain crispy cereal product, toffee caramel and are coated in milk chocolate. The Munchies Mini Bite combine a biscuit and chocolate base, layered with caramel and covered in milk chocolate.
John Steele, brand manager, Finsbury Food Group, said: “The snacking category continues to go from strength to strength in the UK, with its value up by 4.46%. Our on-going partnership with Nestlé enables us to bring innovative new products to this category.
“We have worked closely with Nestlé to develop cake versions of Toffee Crisp and Munchies confectionery, adapting the concept to create a mini bite with a point of difference. We have also developed a new innovative packaging format that is a stand out on shelf, which we believe will help make the Toffee Crisp and Munchies mini bites extremely popular amongst consumers for office sharing, take-home indulgence and treats.”
