The Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has cleared the Indian arm of UK confectionary and soft drinks giant Cadbury of charges surrounding the adoption of restrictive trade practices (RTP).

The allegations, which were brought by the company’s distributor Mr G. C. Aggarwal, were dropped and the commission found Cadbury India not guilty of refusing to supply products without justifiable reasons and insisting on blank cheques.


“In view of the stated position of law, we are also of the view that the present complaint is not maintainable and the Notice of Enquiry is hereby discharged,” revealed the Commission. Cadbury is also now allowed to appoint a different distributor.
