Japanese retail giant Aeon has said that it intends to increase the number of stores it operates in the Chinese market to around 100 over the next five years.
In a statement released yesterday (18 April) the group said that it is currently working to open a major shopping centre in Beijing in the summer of 2008. Aeon operates 22 outlets in China.
Earlier this month, Aeon reported a doubling in annual profits thanks to rising sales from its supermarket division for the first time in 11 years.
